30 bucks a week #4

This week’s grocery list. I was in the sweets mood so I bought a croissant and a box of biscotti. They should make good breakfasts with my Cafe L’Orange. And finally I decided to spend some money on good cheese, so I bought a mozzarella and am going to make some beefsteak tomato salads.

I didn’t over spent this week, and there are potatoes and an red onion left from last week. So there’s plenty to eat. I think the purpose of doing “30 bucks a week” project is to eat moderately and save food. I am glad that I haven’t waste any food since I started this project.

這是本星期的一週三十塊買菜清單。也許是因為忽然想吃甜的,於是買了杏仁可頌和一盒比司考提,配我的柑橘味咖啡當早餐剛好。然後,我終於決定忍痛花錢買一塊好的乳酪,於是買了一塊馬茲瑞拉,打算做橄欖油馬茲瑞拉番茄沙拉。

這週沒有超出預算,加上上週有一堆馬鈴薯和一顆紅洋蔥剩下,這週的食材非常足夠了。自從開始這個一週三十元計畫之後,我沒有浪費任何食物。我想這個計畫的主要目的,是讓自己吃的適量,不浪費(地球)資源,想想過去多少次買了過量的食材,卻因為吃不完而將腐壞的食物送進垃圾桶,造成了多少浪費啊。

我很高興現在自己可以過著一種簡單、儉約而健康的飲食生活。

30 bucks a week #3 這週的主菜是優格醬拌蝦

想要試試瑪莎史都華Living雜誌裡的一道優格醬拌蝦,結果這週的菜錢超出預算。前兩週因為都沒有超過三十塊,剩下來的錢再加上本週的三十塊,我有$36.43的菜錢,然而由於必須買一些比較貴的材料,例如希臘優格和大蝦,另外家裡也沒有番茄醬和續隨子(capers),因此還是超過了$5.15,總共花了$41.48。另外我還買了咖啡豆和胖奇的零食,不過因為咖啡、茶、酒和狗食,都不算在日常菜錢裡,所以我沒有算進來。

30 bucks week #2 peach season

Peaches are in season now. I found the peach gazpachio recipe from Martha Stewart‘s Living magazine and wanted to try it. The peaches I bought from The Fresh Market are so delicious and were on sale. They smelled nice and sweet too. I stored them in the kitchen, and I could even smell the peachy fragrance from my living room.

Here is the grocery list for this week. I spent total $24.80 only. Good job! Anais.

I found this website with the information of “eat local”. You can check what produce is in season in your area and where the farmer’s markets are near you.

現在正是水蜜桃的季節。我在瑪莎史都華生活雜誌裡找到一個水蜜桃冷湯的食譜,看上去很美味,決定試著做做看。剛好The Fresh Market的水蜜桃在特價,又甜又香。我把水蜜桃放在廚房的料理台上,坐在客廳都可以聞到蜜桃香呢。

這週是我的三十元菜錢計畫的第二週,我總共只花了$24.80的菜錢,比上週還少呢!給自己拍拍手。

上面是我的購物清單。最貴的蔬菜要算是紅甜椒了,一個就要兩塊多;香菜也貴,而且用不完很容易黃掉。蜜桃真是太便宜了,八個只要兩塊多呢。可見買當季蔬果,真的又新鮮又划算。現在美國有很多提倡“買當地、吃當季”的飲食計畫,例如這個網站,就提供了美國各地各個時節生產蔬果作物的資訊,也可以查詢你家附近有哪些本地的農場可購買當季蔬果。

Weekly Menu

Gazpacho

I started “30 bucks a week” project on June 30. It’s been over a week and I am doing pretty good so far. I only ate out once and spent $16 on a lobster sandwich. It was really delicious and was totally worthy. That was on my payday. I guess I can treat myself once a week, if I want. Besides that, I haven’t gone grocery shopping until today because I still have some food left from last week.

So I’d like to write down what I’ve made from the grocery every week. It might inspire you to start your own 30 bucks a week project (like I was inspired by this blog).

Without further ado, here is my weekly menu on week one.

  • Braised salmon with miso sauce
  • Mustard cauliflower
  • Kefir+blueberries for breakfast almost everyday
  • Cucumber beet salad (altered from this recipe)
  • Onion pocket for breakfast and lunch
  • Stir-fried green cabbage
  • Tufo miso soup
  • Pesto capellini with fresh basils from my mini garden
  • Soba (Japanese buckwheat noodles) with soy sauce, scallions and homemade wasabi
  • Gazpachio (used some veggies left from my local farm trip two weeks ago)

And some rice which I always have in my kitchen cabinet.

I’ve been eating pretty healthy.

上星期我開始了一個一週三十元(美金)菜錢的計畫,到目前為止,我可以很得意地說,自己有達到這個計畫的標準和目標。目前為止我只吃了一次外食,那天剛好是發薪日,然後主管邀我一起午餐,我想一個星期寵自己一次應該也不過分吧。於是,那頓午餐我花了16塊美金買了一個龍蝦三明治,花掉半週的菜錢,可是非常值得,因為那龍蝦三明治實在太美味了!

除此之外,每天我都在家煮飯,上週六買的菜,夠我一個人超過一星期的份量。我想把我用了這些食材做了哪些用途紀錄下來,也許你也會因此被啓發,開始屬於你的一週三十元菜錢省錢計畫。

這裡是我過去十天做的食物。

看起來我吃得非常清淡健康喔。希望這樣的好習慣一直保持下去。

在陽台種菜,一週三十塊省錢計畫 week 1

在我的陽台種菜

自從上次到當地的農場買新鮮蔬菜之後,發現能吃到新鮮蔬菜真的是很幸福的事啊,也讓我興起在陽台種些簡單的香草和蔬果的念頭。剛好這兩天發現了一個有趣的部落格”30 bucks a week“,是一對住在紐約的年輕人,用部落格紀錄下每週只花三十元買菜的儉約計畫。這個計畫的目的是盡量在家料理,並且不要浪費食材,有計劃的買菜,把家裡有的菜都吃完再買。他們也自己種菜,不但省錢,也很健康。在他們的部落格上還有許多蔬果創意食譜,以及種菜心得和資訊分享。

於是我想,他們兩個人,又住在紐約,如果他們可以辦得到,我應該也可以。(不過後來我發現這裡的菜價可能比紐約還貴。)

上週六開始了我的一週三十元計畫,順便也買了兩盆菜回來養,一盆是番茄、辣椒和香菜,一盆是三種不同的羅勒。我特地挑了已經有結辣椒和番茄果實的那盆,給自己一個好的開始,也比較有收成的信心。

本來想把清單畫出來的,不過這週工作實在太忙,就先用打字的吧。看這些菜夠不夠我吃一個星期,不過目前為止,我大部份還是吃上週剩下的食材,等週末時再把成果整理出來。
